Sutter Amador Hospital Auxiliary makes donation to hospital for new medical equipment

JACKSON, CA – The Sutter Amador Hospital Auxiliary generously donated $20,000 to the hospital this summer for the purchase of essential equipment for the Emergency Department and Family Birth Center.
Bob Mosblech, SAH Hospital Auxiliary President, with SAH CEO Anne Platt
“As a community-focused hospital, we are so grateful for our volunteers who generously give not only their time, but also make significant financial contributions to help support our not-for-profit mission,” said Anne Platt, CEO of Sutter Amador Hospital. “With these investments in the hospital, the auxiliary helps ensure quality medical care for our region.”

The Sutter Amador Hospital Auxiliary’s donation will be used to purchase a new triage procedure chair in the Emergency Department and a newborn cardiac monitor in the Family Birth Center.

“Our volunteers are valuable members of our hospital community who help ensure patients and their families have a wonderful experience at our facility,” said Laura Cooper, R.N., manager of the Family Birth Center at SAH. “We are so touched and grateful for their donation.”
“In the past 10 years, we have donated more than $510,000 to the hospital for the purchase of new medical equipment and other materials needed to advance patient care services,” said Bob Mosblech, president of the Sutter Amador Hospital Auxiliary. “Volunteering at the hospital is an important part of my life and I’m privileged to see the impact that we have in the hospital and in the community.”
With more than 60 active hospital volunteers, the auxiliary team donates more than 15,000 hours each year to the hospital staffing the hospital’s gift store, concierge cart, information desk, thrift shop and provide assistance to various departments throughout the hospital.
Looking for a rewarding opportunity to give back? The hospital is looking for volunteers to join its diverse team. Volunteers are asked to staff one four-hour shift per week, for a minimum one-year commitment.
“Joining our volunteer team is a great way to meet people while giving back to the community,” said Mosblech.
There are several programs and ways for new volunteers to participate in helping Sutter Amador Hospital fulfill its commitment to providing compassionate and high quality care to the community.
To get involved, visit the hospital lobby to pick up an auxiliary application. Each volunteer must apply to become a member of the auxiliary. For information about joining the Sutter Amador Hospital Auxiliary, please call the hospital’s information desk at 209-223-7408.

Sutter Amador Hospital Auxiliary provides scholarships to local youth

JACKSON, CA –  Preparing for college can be an exciting and expensive endeavor. To help with the cost of tuition, The Sutter Amador Hospital Auxiliary has generously provided $5,000 in scholarships to five local high school students pursuing careers in the medical field.

Vanessa Kristofferson, an Amador High School graduate who hopes to be a pediatric surgeon.
Madyson Porta, an Amador High School graduate who will attend the University of Portland for nursing. Lauryn Davis, Argonaut High School graduate studying to be an ultrasound technician.
Koby Wright, Argonaut High School graduate who will attend the University of California, Los Angeles. David Kelaita, who will attend the University of California in Santa Cruz.

"We believe it is important to provide financial assistance to students to help make their college dreams a reality," said Therese Stamm, scholarship chairperson for the Sutter Amador Hospital Auxiliary. "It is our hope that these students will return to our community with their new skills, and we are thankful they are investing their time and education to pursue healthcare careers."
With more than 40 applicants, the scholarship applications were carefully reviewed with money awarded on the applicant's qualifications, financial need, grade point average and letter of recommendations.

"Thank you so much for choosing me," said Lauryn Davis, a Pioneer resident. "It is an honor to receive this award and I am extremely grateful to the Sutter Amador Hospital Auxiliary."

According to Stamm, the Auxiliary has donated more than $50,000 in scholarships in the last ten years.

"We understand that it is very expensive to attend college in today's economy," she said. "Our scholarship donations are possible thanks to funding from our thrift store, gift shop and fundraisers throughout the year to help those students in need."

At Sutter Amador Hospital, more than 100 auxiliary members dedicate nearly 20,000 hours of service to patients and staff each year. Not only do auxiliary members volunteer their time, they also contribute financially to the hospital. In 20 years, the Auxiliary has donated $500,000 to the hospital to purchase medical equipment and other materials needed for patient care services.

This month, they donated $20,000 to Sutter Amador Hospital for the purchase of new equipment in the Family Birth Center and Emergency Department.

“As a community hospital, we are so grateful for our volunteers who generously give their time and make valuable contributions to our hospital,” said Anne Platt, CEO of Sutter Amador Hospital. “These heartfelt efforts help create an atmosphere of healing, and we appreciate every hour our volunteers contribute to our hospital community.”
