Amador Holistic Center is a collaboration of five wellness practitioners who offer alternatives to traditional Western/allopathic medical treatment. Located upstairs in Amador City's Old Amador Hotel, guests can select a variety of services to help the body heal itself.
"We're all about prevention and good health," said Center founder Christine DaRosa. "People are starting to seek us out because they suffer from allergies and other terrible side effects related to prescription drugs. They're having all these ailments and not being healed, so we're helping them the natural way."
DaRosa is a clinical hypnotherapist, behavioral therapist, life coach and Reiki Master. Her partners at the Center include Reiki Masters Kimberly Freeman and Gloria Banning, and Certified Massage Therapists Karin Gehrke and Dawn Grandon. All five women have one goal: To heal the whole person - mind, body, emotions, and spirit.
"We do not cut it up and just treat a symptom," DaRosa said. "We care about the person that we work on. We want to help people help themselves and heal naturally, and it's from our heart. That's what we're all about."
Before opening the Center in Amador City, DaRosa operated the Health in Harmony Retreat in rural Volcano, Calif. Since 2011, the mountain property has been the site of an annual Healing Arts Gathering at the mountain property. Festivities always included alternative wellness demonstrations, intuitive readings, vendor booths, workshops and healthy lunch options. For 2015's event, the fair moves to the Old Amador Hotel.
DaRosa and her business partner Rose Navarro opened Amador Holistic Center a year and a half ago with a mission to provide alternative wellness services to the local community and reach out to others beyond the immediate area. They chose the spot in the historic hotel so they could have a store front in addition to a place to practice their art. The retail store on the first floor is called DejaVu. Upstairs has the holistic center.
"I just resonated to it," DaRosa said of the new location. "I'm glad we started there, and I hope we keep growing."
The 5th Annual Healing Arts Fair will be held Saturday, May 16 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Guests will enjoy the day sampling a large variety of holistic modalities and intuitive arts, as well as shopping the various booths for crafts, jewelry and other items - all while enjoying complimentary refreshments and listening to live ambient music by Gregory Cain.
"Greg's music is very nice, mellow, meditation-type sound that you would hear when you go to a spa," DaRosa said.
