JACKSON, CA – A new year brings new life. Sutter Amador Hospital helped welcome the first baby of Amador County on Jan. 1 at 7:47 p.m. Weighing 10 pounds and 7 ounces, Daylani Anaya Sauceda Aquilar greeted proud parents Juan and Aolanis Lopez.
The Lopez family currently lives in Modesto but mother, Aolanis, is from Plymouth and was also born at Sutter Amador Hospital. The Lopez family didn’t plan to have the first baby of the new year, but was pleasantly surprised at their daughter’s early arrival.
“It was a beautiful experience to have my first child on the first day of the year and at this hospital,” said Lopez. “Her due date wasn’t until Jan. 4 so she was a welcome surprise.”
The healthy baby girl is 22 inches long and was greeted by grandparents who were with the Lopez family throughout the birth, she said.
“We are so deeply in love with our little girl,” said Lopez. “The first few days have been wonderful.”
Sutter Amador Hospital Family Birth Center staff members generously donated a large gift basket to the new family in hopes of what will help provide them with a wonderful year of first moments with their new daughter.
“I can’t imagine a more memorable or touching way to celebrate a new year,” said Laura Cooper, manager of the Sutter Amador Hospital Family Birth Center. “Our team was so happy to welcome the beautiful first baby of 2018.”
