Many of us are initially attracted to yoga for the physical practice. Others never step foot into a yoga class because they think they are not bendy enough or they are too worried about how they will look. For those of us who took that step and entered our first yoga class, we likely had these same concerns along with expectations of what we would be able to do or not do. We were hyper focused on how we looked, whether we were doing the poses correctly, how we compared to the other students.
During that first class, even with our primary focus on the physical practice, we experienced something that drew us in. If we were paying attention, even just for a moment, we may have noticed the subtleties of our breath, the heat and sensations building in our body, the release and flood of stored emotions. We saw a tiny glimmer of something meaningful, something powerful, something that we wanted to experience again.
Over time yoga moves us from a practice focused on the body to something that transcends the physical. The more we practice, the more we start to notice and observe our true nature, and we begin to discover that yoga has now become our path, our journey. There is no looking back; the only way out is through.
Welcome Lisa and Clara to the AY Teaching Team! We are so excited to welcome back Lisa Mackie to Amador Yoga! One of Lisa's passions is teaching at risk youth and providing them with tools of self-discovery, discipline and respect for self, others and community. Join Lisa on Thursday evenings for Slow Flow!
Welcome our newest teacher Clara Bobyrick! For Clara yoga is a way of life. It is a place where the worries of the future and the regrets of the past fade and the present moment takes over. It is a practice that brings awareness to the areas of neglect our physical bodies endure. As Clara shares her practice with others and her community her love for yoga continues to grow.
Tuesday, July 4th, 3:00-4:00 pm: Let freedom ring and join Allie for a special Freedom Flow yoga class.
Sunday, July 9th, 2:00-4:30 pm:Intro to Ayurveda: Join Jillian and Allie for this fun, introductory class and learn more about the basics of Ayurveda and how you can apply them to your everyday life and yoga practice. Please wear comfortable clothes as the workshop will include an all-levels Ayurvedic yoga class.
Saturday, July 22nd, 10:45-11:45 am:Foundations: An Intro to Yoga: This class highlights proper breathing techniques, the basic yoga poses in the flow sequence, and demonstration of proper alignment in each pose. This class is a great intro for those new to yoga or Vinyasa flow style.
Friday, September 22nd - Sunday, September 24:Amador Yoga Summer Retreat: Join us for our second annual all inclusive yoga retreat in South Lake Tahoe! We only have a few spots left, if you are interested call 209-283-3328 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Wednesday and Friday morning Power Flow with Shannon will now be 6:30 am to 7:30 am.
Sunday9:30 am FUNdamentals Level 2 class with Bianca will now be a Power Flow class.
Monday3:30 FUNdamentals Level 1 class will be cancelled moving forward.
