Sutter Amador named with three Sutter Health hospitals chosen as "Best Places to Work" by Modern Healthcare

Sutter Amador Joins Sutter Davis, Sutter Center for Psychiatry on Annual List
SACRAMENTO — Sutter Amador Hospital joined Sutter Davis Hospital and Sutter Center for Psychiatry to be named by Modern Healthcare as three of the 100 Best Places to Work in Healthcare for 2016. They are the only hospitals in Northern California to receive the award, which honors U.S. workplaces in health care that enable employees to perform at their optimum level to provide patients and customers with the best possible care, products and services.
This is the eighth year in a row that Sutter Davis Hospital was honored in the Modern Healthcare Best Places to Work survey, and it is the fifth consecutive year for Sutter Center for Psychiatry, which is the only psychiatric facility to be so honored in the nation. It is Sutter Amador’s first time on the list.
A total of 100 health-care workplaces around the country – representing providers (including hospitals), suppliers, payers and associations– were honored as Best Places to Work in Healthcare. The three Sutter affiliates are the only ones honored in the greater Sacramento region.
Based on submissions sent in from hundreds of health care organizations across the country, Modern Healthcare examined dozens of workplace issues, from leadership and planning to pay and benefits. A crucial element to the evaluation process was surveys that were sent out to randomly selected employees. These surveys helped Modern Healthcare hear directly from staff about how they feel engaged and empowered in their jobs.
“Sutter Amador Hospital, Sutter Center for Psychiatry and Sutter Davis Hospital are reflective of the excellent, engaged work environments our staffs have created throughout Northern California,” said Valley Area President James Conforti of Sutter Health. “It takes great vision, commitment and compassion to build a collaborative work culture that keeps patients at the center of everything we do.”
Sutter Amador Hospital, located in Jackson, Calif., has 52 licensed beds and is the only hospital in Amador County, serving a population of more than 40,000. Sutter Amador Hospital’s rich history of providing care for Amador County residents dates back to 1876.
“As an Amador County-based and community-focused hospital, our employees have the opportunity to serve their neighbors and friends. It’s because of these hard-working, dedicated, engaged employees that Sutter Amador Hospital made this list and stands out among the best places to work in the country,” said Anne Platt, Sutter Amador’s CEO. “It’s a Culture of Caring that makes working here a very rewarding experience.”
Sutter Center for Psychiatry is the only not-for-profit psychiatric hospital in the greater Sacramento region that is part of an integrative health care system. It includes an inpatient, 73-bed psychiatric facility for children and adults and an outpatient center that offers partial hospitalization and other mental health programs.
“It is gratifying for all of us at Sutter Center for Psychiatry to see the fruits of our labors in the positive changes made in our patients’ lives,” said John Boyd, CEO of Sutter Center for Psychiatry. “I’m sure that sense of accomplishment helped greatly in receiving this honor.”
Sutter Davis Hospital offers a technologically advanced acute-care hospital, a strong offering of outpatient services and community outreach programs. The 48-bed hospital and its programs provide care and support to the residents of Davis, Dixon, Winters, Woodland, West Sacramento, Vacaville and rural communities throughout Yolo and Eastern Solano counties.
“Our focus at Sutter Davis Hospital is the quality care we provide our patients, and to be able to do that in an environment where we care about each other is what makes our hospital one of the best places to work,” said Sutter Davis Hospital CEO Jennifer Maher.
Sutter Amador Hospital, Sutter Center for Psychiatry and Sutter Davis Hospital are part of the Sutter Health network, a not-for-profit, community-based health system located throughout Northern California.
