NAMI Amador encourages membership, announces meetings through December

If you are curious about NAMI Amador, and possibly becoming a member, you are welcome to sit in, and get a little bit of information also. Please keep in mind this isn't a support group. This meeting is to inform our members what we are doing and when and to get approval to make sure we serve our members based on the community needs and what they want to see. However, it is open to the public.

Becoming a member is very affordable and your support goes to a great cause! You don't necessarily need to have a mental illness to be a member. Statistics show that you most likely know someone or several people who struggle with a mental illness even if you do not know it. Support the ones you love by being a member of a Non-Profit who is here only to support our local community members.

We will have a guest speaker, Carla Fry at our June 28th member meeting, speaking about anxiety disorders. Carla graduated from California State University, Sacramento, with a M.S. in Counseling. She has worked in Social Services and Education for more than 30 years. Currently, Carla facilitates Wellness Workshops through NEXUS Youth and Family Services at their Community Centers. She also provides other relevant wellness services to the community such as Wellness Recovery Action Planning. Carla is also an aspiring jewelry artist and teacher.

"I am doing more community workshops, such as Wellness Recovery Action Planning, Educate, Equip & Support, Common Ground and groups for teens. On June 28th I will cover what anxiety is and is not, generalized anxiety, social anxiety disorder, and specific phobias. "

You may join is and listen in at Sutter Amador Hospital on Tuesday June 28 at 5:30 PM in the Multi-conference Room at Sutter Amador Hospital - near the cafeteria.
