Dear Members and Friends of NYF, 
February brings a lot of changes to New York Fitness and there are more exciting programs to come! 

NYF has a new personal trainer that will be introducing a new group running program and a new Power Yoga Class. You can learn more about those below.

With the success of the great new Women's Self Defense Class, we have decided to continue the program on Monday's from 5:30 to 6:30pm. We will also be adding another self defense based class on Wednesday's from 12 to 1pm, this class will be open to both males and females.

These are just some of the new and exciting things happening at NYF. Be sure to keep an eye out for more changes, and new events hosted by NYF, including; Indoor Triathlons, Ping-pong Tournaments, Racquetball Tournaments, and much much more.

Welcome Shannon Allen!
Please welcome our new Personal Trainer!
Shannon Allen is a Certified Personal Trainer with the NFPT, a registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance and a former Nike Women's Marathon Pace Leader. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Marketing and has spent 10 years climbing the corporate ladder before she realized she was not following her true passion, which is to connect with others in her community through health and wellness. Shannon believes any training program should include a holistic approach to wellness and incorporate elements of cardio, strength building, flexibility, proper nutrition and a strong mind-body connection. Shannon's approach to personal training is to incorporate her client's own goals and motivate them to reach new heights in their health and fitness and leave them feeling empowered.
New Run Group Training!
Experienced runner and Personal Trainer Shannon will be hosting group training runs to help everyone get prepared for the upcoming 5k and 10k season! First round of training startsFebruary 7th and goes till March 19th. With more training rounds to follow. See the Calendar of upcoming run events and training dates.

The 6-week training program includes; a 30 minute individualized goal setting session, customized training program, ongoing coaching and support, weekly group training runs held on Sundays and Wednesdays. This is the perfect way to get ready for the many local runs that will be held this year and to get in shape!

New Power Vinyasa Yoga Class!
Get out of your head and into your body with Power Vinyasa Yoga! This yoga class increases flexibility and strength and helps you reconnect with yourself. You will leave class transformed and empowered to tackle the dayahead and achieve your dreams, no matter how big or how small. This class is a accessible to all ages, genders and fitness levels, from beginner to advanced students alike. 

Starting Friday February 5th9:30 to 10:30am in the Yoga Studio.

Women's Self Defense
Special 4 week long self defense course taught by Doug Gunselman. Learn how to hit, strike, knee and kick. Also learn to defend yourself against grabs, chokes, bear hugs and ground attacks. Held in the Yoga Studio. 
Free to members! Non-members pay day pass rate.

The first line of Self Defense is Self Control.  Having the right mind and skill set could make a powerful difference if ever confronted.  Getting your calm on by incorporating basic Qigong, relaxation, focus, and protection techniques has the added benefits of improving balance, increasing endurance, and boosting confidence.  Learn simple, effective methods to stay in control of you, to improve mental clarity, and to keep safe from potential harm.

Come in for a ONE DAY FREE TRIAL. No strings attached! During your one day free visit, you will be entitled to attend any of our classes, enjoy our competition size heated pool, hot tub, steam room, sauna, racquetball courts, basketball court, weights area and cardio section!

Terms & Conditions: One(1) coupon per person. Must be 14 years or older to use facility. Under 18 must have parent signature. 14-15 year olds must be accompanied by an adult while in the facility. Only one(1) day pass per person valid during any 3-month period.
