Dear Members and Friends of NYF, 
February brings a lot of changes to New York Fitness and there are more exciting programs to come! 

NYF has a new personal trainer that will be introducing a new group running program and a new Power Yoga Class. You can learn more about those below.

With the success of the great new Women's Self Defense Class, we have decided to continue the program on Monday's from 5:30 to 6:30pm. We will also be adding another self defense based class on Wednesday's from 12 to 1pm, this class will be open to both males and females.

These are just some of the new and exciting things happening at NYF. Be sure to keep an eye out for more changes, and new events hosted by NYF, including; Indoor Triathlons, Ping-pong Tournaments, Racquetball Tournaments, and much much more.

Welcome Shannon Allen!
Please welcome our new Personal Trainer!
Shannon Allen is a Certified Personal Trainer with the NFPT, a registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance and a former Nike Women's Marathon Pace Leader. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Marketing and has spent 10 years climbing the corporate ladder before she realized she was not following her true passion, which is to connect with others in her community through health and wellness. Shannon believes any training program should include a holistic approach to wellness and incorporate elements of cardio, strength building, flexibility, proper nutrition and a strong mind-body connection. Shannon's approach to personal training is to incorporate her client's own goals and motivate them to reach new heights in their health and fitness and leave them feeling empowered.
New Run Group Training!
Experienced runner and Personal Trainer Shannon will be hosting group training runs to help everyone get prepared for the upcoming 5k and 10k season! First round of training startsFebruary 7th and goes till March 19th. With more training rounds to follow. See the Calendar of upcoming run events and training dates.

The 6-week training program includes; a 30 minute individualized goal setting session, customized training program, ongoing coaching and support, weekly group training runs held on Sundays and Wednesdays. This is the perfect way to get ready for the many local runs that will be held this year and to get in shape!

New Power Vinyasa Yoga Class!
Get out of your head and into your body with Power Vinyasa Yoga! This yoga class increases flexibility and strength and helps you reconnect with yourself. You will leave class transformed and empowered to tackle the dayahead and achieve your dreams, no matter how big or how small. This class is a accessible to all ages, genders and fitness levels, from beginner to advanced students alike. 

Starting Friday February 5th9:30 to 10:30am in the Yoga Studio.

Make Healthy Changes Through the Holistic Health and Wellness Fair

Make 2016 the best year ever by creating a healthier you! The 12th annual Amador Holistic Health and Wellness Fair showcases some of the best wellness options that Amador County and the region have to offer, allowing you to find the right path to become your best self. On Saturday, January 30, come to the Amador Senior Center in Jackson to discover lots of resources for improving your quality of life. The theme of this year's fair is “Wellness From Start to Finish,” with the intention of introducing people to wellness options for every stage of life.

Rosebud's Cafe of Jackson will be making a nutritious and delicious lunch, featuring farm-fresh produce, chicken, and eggs, that will be available for purchase. There will also be local food, local farm products, and other wholesome products for sale. Some vendors charge a small fee for a demonstration of their services.

Admission to this family-friendly event is free, and all are welcome to attend. Everyone who attends can enter the free raffle for a chance to win healthy products and services. The health fair is 11 am to 4 pm at the Amador Senior Center, 229 New York Ranch Road, Jackson. Sponsored by the Body, Mind, Spirit Center of Amador. Sutter Medical Foundation Welcomes Gail Leanne Watkins, PA-C

PIONEER, CA – Gail Leanne Watkins, PA-C, a certified physician assistant joins Sutter Medical Foundation’s Family Medicine Department with Patricia Sullivan, FNP in Pioneer.
Prior to joining Sutter Medical Foundation, Watkins worked at Sierra Emergency Medical Group and Mark Twain Medical Center.
Watkins graduated from University of California, Davis and received her board certification from the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants.

12th Annual Holistic Health Fair: "Wellness from Start to Finish" - Sat Jan 30

The new year often finds people reflecting on the changes they would like to make in their lives. They may have been frustrated in the past by their attempts to make those changes because they did not have the right “tools.” On Saturday, January 30 from 11 AM - 4PM, the 12th annual Amador County Holistic Health and Wellness Fair returns to the Amador Senior Center in Jackson, offering lots of resources for improving one's quality of life.

The fair presents an opportunity for attendees to start their journey toward good health and well-being by sampling the many wellness products and services that are available locally. The wealth of information provided by the vendors will guide attendees to choose the best tools for successfully reaching their goals. The purpose of the wellness fair is to have people engage actively in their health. The theme of this year's fair is “Wellness From Start to Finish,” with the intention of introducing people to wellness options for every stage of life.

The eleven previous years of this health fair have showcased some of the best wellness options that Amador County and the region have to offer, including massage therapy, chiropractic, energy-based healing, acupuncture, homeopathy, meditation, spiritual counseling, yoga, shamanic drumming, chi gong, and various exercise and nutrition programs. This year also promises to have a great variety of practitioners and healthy products to inspire all who attend to make small or significant changes for the better in their lives.

Dear Members and Friends of NYF, 
2015 has come and gone. We have had a lot of changes in the past year here at NYF. Thank you to everyone that is a part of NYF whether you are an employee, instructor, member, or just support the gym.

We are looking forward to 2016 and all the opportunities we have to improve the gym and to improve the lives of those around us. We have been working hard to come up with many new and exciting ideas that we will be rolling out throughout the year.

NYF is also providing a great way to start coming to the gym, or to come back to the gym, with our New Year's Buddy Special. More information on the buddy special is provided below.

Chair Pilates
This class follows the basic principles of Pilates, using modifications to make the program accessible to people with balance, stability, or joint issues, as well as other challenges which prevent them from participating in the mat based Pilates classes. Pilates strengthens the core, helps build muscles, provides stretching benefits and enhances one's overall health.

This class will include sitting and standing exercises and will make use of stretch bands, light weights, and small balls.
